Stumps don’t have to live in your yard forever. Treasure Coast Tree & Land Services grinds and removes stumps throughout Vero Beach and the Indian River area – fast, affordable, and clean.
Why Stumps Should Come Out
- They’re tripping hazards, especially for kids and older family members.
- They damage mower blades and make lawn care a pain.
- They attract termites, carpenter ants, and wood-boring beetles – bad news in Florida where termite pressure is already high.
- They sprout new growth from the root system if not properly dealt with.
- They get in the way of landscaping, replanting, sod, and any future construction.
- They lower curb appeal.
Stump Grinding vs. Stump Removal
Two options, two different jobs:
- Stump grinding – a grinder reduces the stump to mulch from the top down, going 6 to 12 inches below grade. The remaining root system stays in the ground and gradually decomposes over a few years. Faster, cheaper, and easier on the lawn than full removal. Right answer for almost every situation.
- Stump removal – digging out the entire stump and root ball. Necessary when the spot needs to be used for a foundation, a pool, or a new tree planted in exactly the same location. More expensive, harder on the surrounding lawn.
During your free estimate, we’ll talk through what you’re planning to do with the spot and recommend the right approach. For 95% of homeowners, grinding is the right call.
Our Process
- Free estimate. We measure the stump, check for obstacles (rocks, irrigation lines, utility markings), and give you a firm written price on the spot.
- Underground utility check. Before grinding, we verify utilities have been marked – Florida law requires it for any digging.
- Grinding. The grinder reduces the stump and the surface roots radiating from the base. Most stumps take 30 minutes to a few hours depending on size and species.
- Cleanup. Chips can stay on-site as mulch, be left in a pile for you to use, or be hauled away. Your call.
Palm Stump Removal
Palm stumps are different from hardwood stumps. The trunk is fibrous rather than woody, the root mass is broader and shallower, and the disposal needs are different. We handle palm stump grinding and removal regularly – sabal palm, queen palm, royal palm, washingtonia, and the rest of the Treasure Coast palm population.
